ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
I Am Filipino
March 2, 2012 - On Going
Community Portrait Gallery
Through personal stories and photographs, experience the many layers of Filipino American history and identity. This cultural legacy lives on in the Filipino community and beyond.
I Am Filipino occupies one of our Community Portrait Galleries, a series of intimate spaces on the second floor of the museum, where we showcase particular APA communities. The exhibit was created in partnership with the Filipino American National Historical Society and showcases dozens of oral history interviews. With its historic photo timeline and oral history listening stations, it has been a mainstay of the museum for nearly a decade.

During the month of October, we commemorate the significant role the Filipino community has played in shaping American history. Acknowledgment of Filipino contributions and stories is an important part of honoring the Filipino American legacy and fighting against exclusion and erasure.
As the second largest Asian Pacific Islander American ethnic group, Filipino communities have played an integral part in shaping the political, economic, and cultural landscape of the country.
