Join us for a very special in-person book celebration launching Filipino American History Month with Jen Soriano's newest non-fiction, "Nervous: Essays on Heritage and Healing."
Jen Soriano is a Filipinx writer and movement builder who has long worked at the intersection of grassroots organizing, narrative strategy, and art-driven social change. She is co-editor of Amanda Solomon Amorao and DJ Kuttin Kandi’s anthology Closer to Liberation: Pin[a/x]y Activism in Theory and Practice. She is also the author of "Multiplicity From the Margins," published by Assay: A Journal of Nonfiction Studies, which explores the potential of intersectional form to disrupt oppressive narratives and expand narrow worldviews. "Nervous" is her debut book.
Jen Soriano will be in conversation with one of her sheroes, the inimitable Angela Garbes, celebrated author of “Like a Mother” and “Essential Labor.”
The afternoon will open with music from beloved Filipinx local artists Sendai Era, and rogue pinay.
For more information on the author, visit jensoriano.net
Seating for elders and a kid play area will be available in this program space. For every book bought at the event, the author will donate a portion to WLM and APIChaya.
